what's the effin' big deal about Arashi being successful?
I
completely understand if this came from the non-Arashi fans--if you
don't like them, then there's nothing I can do about it. However, I am
referring to those Arashi fans who are ditching the boys, complaining
that they're becoming too popular.
I remember the time when
Arashi fans were complaining that no one gave the boys the light of
day; that their singles flopped; that the production values of their
shows and/or concerts were a complete joke; that MatsuJun had to insist
for him and his group to sing the theme song to his new dorama; that no
knew who they were or gave a rat's ass about them.
Now, they're
getting the break they've all been waiting for, enjoying offers left and
right, being recognized for their contribution to the entertainment
industry, and you're still complaining? UNBELIEVABLE. Complaining that
they're too all over the place. That they're hogging the spotlight. That
there's another single. That they've released yet another DVD. That
another one is starring in a dorama. Yadda yadda yadda.
Isn't
this what we wanted for them to begin with? For our boys to be on top,
be number one? Hell, that's what every fan wants for their favorite
group, isn't it? Arashi deserves to be on the cover of every single
magazine in Japan. They deserve the record-breaking single sales
figures. They deserve the golden timeslots of their TV shows. They
deserve all the awards and the recognition. They deserve every single
yen of their million salaries. Isn't it that you reap what you sow? They
worked ten years to get where they are right now. TEN LONG YEARS. A
DECADE'S WORTH OF SWEAT, BLOOD, AND TEARS. Whatever fame and fortune
they are experiencing right now, they more than earned it! If anything,
you should be filled with pride that finally, the world is seeing how
incredibly talented and awesome and amazing these five boys are!
I
DO NOT GET YOU, FANDOM. I am utterly saddened and disappointed at how
shallow you guys are. And frankly, I pity the other groups you now support
because once they've reached the same status Arashi has right now, who's
to say you won't do the same thing to them?
